I made this piece in 2023 as part of the ‘Symbols of Unity/ Signs of Hope’ collection.

Okay, cool John. But what materials did you use?

I created this work using a discarded advertising canvas from a construction site as the base. Then added bottle caps, plastic, steel wire from sparkling wine, and wax crayon.

YES…

I read a United Nations report that talked about the urgent need to rewild 10 million square kilometers (roughly the size of China) to stop biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution.

And this made me want to create something that radiates the deep love I feel for mother nature. And I believe I succeeded.

Because when I look at my work, I see hope for the future. And feel a powerful connection to earth.

The canvas used to be an ad for a construction site. Now, it’s a beautiful artwork.

And to me, this proves that ‘waste’ is a fantastic resource we can use to create powerful and beautiful things.
