Oceaninadrop
In a world where too much seems to be wasted too quickly, I have the urgency to go against the grain and restore balance. But more than just repair, I want to reshape and more than just recycling, I desire to harmonize again.
My creative process is highly ceremonial; First I go out into the world and rescue the material from the industry's bins (aided by many winged helpers) and back home I sort the junk and transform it into a treasure - then I become the old craftsman by physically flattening each crown cap with a fist hammer on a granite cobblestone and finally I turn inside and let the imprinted patterns and colors come to life through circular harmonisation.
In retrospect, I reversed the 'drop in the water-ripple effect' to the drop. There's something very satisfying and revelatory about that. "You're not a drop in the ocean. You are the whole ocean in a drop. "— Rumi John Hoelen
