Inti (The Sun God) 👇

Curious about how I made this masterpiece?

Check out the FAQ below where I answer all the common questions!

I created Inti in 2020 at my studio in Hoogstraten as part of the ‘Symbols of Unity/Signs of Hope’ collection.

I used bottle caps, metal lids, flax (from garlic baskets), and acrylic paint on MDF.

YES…

I started with the brown, earthy tones for the background. Which felt very ethnic, and almost primal to me.

So, that’s when I started creating symbols and patterns that felt ancient. Like they were telling a story of an early tribe or civilization. Which I then added on top.

I came up with the name Inti came to me after I finished the work. It means “sun” in Quechua, tying the work to the sun gods of ancient cultures. Which is pretty cool if you ask me.

The flax I used comes from garlic baskets! And adds this wonderful, rustic texture that ties perfectly into the tribal theme of the work.

It’s like the materials themselves are connected to Mother Nature.
