Who touched the sun?👇

I created this piece in 2019 as part of my Symbols of Unity/Signs of Hope collection.

I used bottle caps and acrylic paint to bring this work to life.

YES…

After two years of exclusively creating mandalas, I felt ready to try something new while still keeping the circular form.

When I finished the coil, it felt incomplete—like something was missing. The sunny colors quickly reminded me of the story of Icarus, the boy who flew too close to the sun. And that’s how I found the missing piece: a hand reaching for the sun.

This symbolizes the dangers of excessive pride. And also serves as a warning: we need to stop measuring ourselves against the Gods so often, because one day, that will lead to our downfall.

This piece was a turning point in my career. For two full years, I had been using my Oceaninadrop Technique exclusively. But with this work, I decided to break free from my comfort zone and experiment with new techniques.

It was a major leap forward for me—and that’s what makes this piece so special.
